Bilirubin (BR) is a protective antioxidant; however, when its conjugation and excretion are impaired, as in neonatal and hereditary jaundice, BR accumulates and may cause severe neurotoxicity. Here, we report a novel mechanism for ZnO nanoparticle (NP)-sensitized BR degradation via defect-mediated nonradiative energy transfer pathway. Among different sizes and shapes, ZnO particles having very high concentration of defect states are found to be the most effective catalyst.
Bilirubin (BR), the yellow-orange breakdown product of normal heme catabolism in mammalian systems, introduces great biological and diagnostic values. Both antioxidant and toxic properties have been attributed to BR, which is normally conjugated with glucuronic acid and then excreted in the bile.
Bilirubin powder is named because its chemical form is powder. The color of this bilirubin powder is orange or red brown. People will use percent to indicate its product quality. Top bilirubin is the one whose purity is upon 99%. This product can be used in producing artificial bezoar as a raw material. Besides, this powder can be used as a antioxidant and the function of the effective hydrogen peroxide scavenger.
Furthermore, the most active areas of the semiconductor industry involve the use of oxides. Thus, most of the chips used in computers contain an oxide component. Till now, there are still many potential applications of materials under continuous investigation and new synthesis methods being developed.
Bilirubin is suitable for use in the preparation of standard stock solutions of bilirubin for color density comparison in the determination of serum bilirubin. Bilirubin is the principal pigment of bile and constituent of many biliary calculi and also found in blood. As the major end-product of the biological breakdown of heme, bilirubin is the chromophore responsible for coloration in various forms of jaundice.
