Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles have been recognized for its unique properties and versatility. Boron nitride combines such features as electrical insulation, thermal conduction and high-temperature lubricity. Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles are widely used for high voltage high-frequency electricity, plasma arc's insulators, automatic welding high-temperature coating, high-frequency induction furnace materials, preventing neutron radiation's packing materials, radar's pass box, radar antenna's mediums, rocket engine's components, etc. Because of good lubricating property, also it is used as high-temperature lubricants. Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles are a thermally and chemically resistant refractory compound of boron and nitrogen with the chemical formula BN. Boron nitride exists in multiple forms that differ in the arrangement of the boron and nitrogen atoms, giving rise to varying bulk properties of the material. It exists in various crystalline forms that are isoelectronic to a similarly structured carbon lattice. The hexagonal form corresponding to graphite is the most stable and soft among BN polymorphs and is therefore used as a lubricant and an additive in cosmetic products.

Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles have the cubic variety analogous to diamond is called c-BN; it is softer than diamond, but its thermal and chemical stability is superior. The rare wurtzite BN modification is similar to lonsdaleite but slightly softer than the cubic form. Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles also serve to protect transistors, tunnel devices, and hydrophobic monolayers against oxidation due to their inert character. Cubic boron nitride nanoparticles should be sealed in vacuum and stored in a cool and dry room and it should not be exposed to air. In addition, the product should be avoided under stress.
