Typical Chemical Analysis
The market for transparent electrodes has grown tremendously due to wide proliferation of LCD displays, touch screens, thin-film solar cells, and light emitting devices. The most widely used material today is indium tin oxide (ITO) with a market share of more than 97 % of transparent conducting coatings.
A standard smartphone touchscreen has glass on the outside, on the top of two layers of conductive materials called Indium Tin Oxide. These layers are very thin, transparent to light and conducts small amounts of electrical current. Indium Tin Oxide is very conductive, making touchscreens respond to a user’s touch with lighting fast speeds.
Indium Tin Oxide is widely used as transparent conducting oxides due to its major characteristics like optical transparency, electrical conductivity, High VIS-NIR light emission, low micro roughness, good sheet resistance homogeneity, high abrasion resistance & coating adhesion and Ease to be deposited as films.
ITO glass slides were used as substrate for fabricating polymer solar cells, displaty technology, transparent ITO- electrodes, ITO coated microscope slides for science research and development, flat anteenas for mobile communication, transparent EMF/EMI/EMC/RFI/HF shielding glass, circuit glass, heatable ITO slides & cover slips.
Indium-Tin-Oxide coatings have the capability to shield electromagnetic fields. Because of the low electrical sheet resistances, ITO Coatings are often used for EM-shielding windows, which must be capable to transmit visible light.
