Tellurite glasses have a wide transparency range from 0.4 to 5 μm, chemical stability, high nonlinearity and solubility of rare-earth elements and are promising for manufacturing step-index and micro structural fiber amplifiers. Tellurite fibers are promising for a number of special applications due to their high non linearity and wide range of transparency. Tellurite/ Tungstate used as a non‐oxidative catalyst in organic reactions. Simple operation, use of readily available starting materials, good to excellent yields and short reaction times are the advantages of this method for the synthesis of these #biologically important products.
One other series of tungstates is important. Wolframite, another name for the hübnerite-ferberite series of manganese/iron tungstates, is perhaps the most important ore of tungsten. These minerals have a structure, unlike that of the other tungstates, based on WO6 octahedra—i.e., each tungsten atom is surrounded by six oxygen atoms arranged at the corners of an octahedron. These minerals are classed with the complex oxides and are related to the niobates and tantalates.
Tellurite glasses materials could have great potential for applications in the field of photonics, due to properties such as high rates of linear and nonlinear refraction, medium-frequency phonons, high solubility to ions of rare earths and low melting points. Researchers demonstrate applications of these glasses in the form of fiber as optical amplifiers achieving high gain using the rare earths Erbium and praseodymium.
Sodium tungstate is used as catalyst in paint dyes, pigment pharmaceuticals and many more chemical reactions like epoxidation of alkenes and oxidation of alcohols into aldehydes or ketones. Along with this, Sodium tungstate is an effective antidiabetic agent when administered orally. It improves pancreatic function and beta cell proliferation. It activates glycogen synthesis through an insulin receptor-independent pathway.
