Samarium nanoparticle (NPs) is one of the main rare earth oxide nanomaterials. Samarium nanoparticles are applied in lightweight electronic equipment where functionality at high temperatures is a major concern. These nanoparticles shows antioxidant properties and has been employed for redox switch reactions.

Samarium is applied in polyaniline matrix energy band gap decreases and conductivity increases. Samarium nanoparticles effects on electrical transport properties of polyaniline. It is used with nickel in coatings because it shows corrorsion resistnce properties. Sm3+ ions are one of the most interesting ions to be analyzed owing to their use in high-density optical storage, exquisite optical properties, and antibacterial properties.
