Titanium oxide, also known as titanium (IV) oxide or titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium with chemical formula TiO. It is also utilized as a pigment and called titanium white. Titanium dioxide has been used as a bleaching and opacifying agent in porcelain enamels, giving them brightness, hardness, and acid resistance.

Titanium oxide sub micron powder: In modern times it is employed in cosmetics, for instance in skin care products and sunscreen lotions, with claims that titanium dioxide protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation due to its property to absorb ultraviolet light. The photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide results in thin coatings exhibiting self-cleaning and disinfecting properties under exposure to ultraviolet radiation. 

Titanium oxide powder: The photocatalytic properties of TiO2 have been widely used for environmental purification. In addition, titanium dioxide with photocatalytic activities is harmless and has high photocatalytic activity and chemical stability. On the other hand, some aluminum alloys, are very sensitive to corrosion, in particular in aggressive external environments (such as chlorides). For these reasons, superficial treatments, such as anodizing, are usually required to improve the corrosion resistance of the aluminum components.

Titanium oxide and its alloys have found an increasing use in the construction of structural components, due to high specific mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with Carbon fibers reinforced polymers (CFRP). TiO₂ is a highly insoluble thermally stable.  Titanium is suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications. Oxide compounds are not conductive to electricity. Currently, these nanoparticles are mainly used in high-factor sun protection creams, textile fibers or wood preservatives.

Titanium oxide sub micron powder is mostly utilized as a white pigment due to its high diffraction index, strong light scattering, incident-light reflection capability, and a high UV resistance. These properties make TiO₂ the standard pigment found in white dispersion paints with high hiding power. For a long time, sun creams have been manufactured adding titanium oxide microparticles that make the products a sticky consistency, pasty.
