Aluminium flakes powder is made by dry ball milling of aluminium under inert atmosphere or removal of the solvent under controlled conditions. Aluminium flakes are utilised in the gas concrete paste because aluminium powder reacts with water to produce hydrogen, aluminium powder can be used to make “lightweight” concrete, the gas bubbles producing as the concrete sets, forming a porous concrete.
Aluminium (A1) flakes, in a polymer binder, which is often pigmented to create the various color appearance. It also exhibits optical properties however for these properties some parameters can be noticed such as flake size, flake surface roughness, the spatial orientation of the flakes, and other pigments (additives). The flake orientation is strongly dependent upon the surface treatments of the flakes and the processing conditions.
Aluminium flake powder: It is most widely utilized as non-ferrous metal and it is a really light material. It also applied in water purification, the manufacture of glass and ceramics, and also in the waterproofing of fabrics. It also manifests extensive applications in ceramic industry and structural composites. Aluminium is mostly utilized due to it is non-toxic, non-absorptive and splinter-proof.
Aluminium flake powder is utilized owing to its corrosion resistance, non-pyrophoricity, and mechanical strength. It has also applications in the food industry such as in food additives, food and beverage packaging, and cooking utensils, drinking water. Aluminium flakes are utilized in the paints because these are fully wetted by the binder and uniformly distributed throughout the paint film.
Nonleafing pigments of Aluminium flakes powder is also preferred for applications requiring excellent adhesion or scratch resistance. They provide a significant improvement in surface properties compared to leafing grades. Aluminium flakes powder is applied in the cosmetic formulations and in the printing inks.
