Potassium oxide is also known as Kalium oxide. It is an ionic compound of potassium and oxygen. It is a highly rective compound and rearely encountered. It is used in fertilizers and cements. It is crystallises in the antifluorite structure. It is a baxic oxide and also violently reacts with water to manufacture the caustic potassium hydroxide. K2O is deliquescent and will absorb water from the atmosphere.

K2O is an unstable substance. It easily oxidizes to other oxides of potassium, peroxide or acid oxide of potassium (KHO). It is utilized in various industrial contexts and also in laboratory chemicals. It is employed in different products such as phytosanitary, polymers, fertilizers etc. K2O is utilized in the area of formulation of mixtures or repackaging, forestry and fishing.
