Zirconium powder is a silver-gray transition metal. It is a type of element that is malleable and ductile. It easily forms stable compounds. It is also employed as a hardening agent in alloys, especially steel. The material has optical properties thus it is also employed more broadly in stereo television glasses, light control devices, and other light-sensitive devices.

Zirconium powder is corrosion-resistant metal by many common acids and alkalis and by seawater. So it is widely used by the chemical industry where corrosive agents are utilized. Zirconium is used as an ingredient to increase the strength in the alloys such as magnesium. For example, when such alloys are utilized in aircraft this conclusion in lighter weight components for the same strength. 

Zirconium powder: It is employed in the production of hydrogen peroxide plants, in acrylic films and fibers, in methyl methacrylate, in butyl alcohol, in the production of urea, acetic and formic acids. It is also used in the production of nitric acid cooler-condensers. Zirconium foil is applied in ignition-flash material in photography bulbs. Sponge zirconium notices its main use in the military industry. Zirconium metal powders are the origin of heat for squibs and ignition devices. These devices have a variety of uses, involving automotive airbag inflators.
